BIENVENIDOS a la clase de Español 2.  In Spanish 2 we will focus on listening, speaking, reading, and writing the Spanish language and will be exposed to aspects of different cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.

GRADING SCALE
Summative (tests, projects)                      70%
Formative (hw,cw,quizzes)                  20%
Final/SGM                                 10%

TESTS  Tests generally come after every chapter in the textbook, about every one and a half to two weeks.

QUIZZES   Quizzes are given every Fridays. Also, SURPRISE QUIZZES anytime.

HOMEWORK  All homework assignments must be complete and are due at the beginning of class at the tardy bell.  A student may not copy answers from another student.  In such a case no credit will be given to either student.  Teacher does not give partial credit nor does he accept late assignments, except of course for excused absences or tardies.  Assignments receive all-or-nothing credit.  If teacher judges student has made a reasonable effort, (at least passing), full credit is awarded.  Homework average will be determined by the number of assignments student has turned in divided by the total number of homeworks assigned.  Students should expect to spend at least 30 minutes a day studying vocabulary, verb conjugations, grammar, etc. including written homework assignments.  Keeping up on a daily basis is vital for good performance in this class.  Occasionally teacher gives extra credit assignments, therefore it is possible to receive a homework grade exceeding 100.

CLASS PARTICIPATION  Participation in a language class is also of vital importance for good performance.  Arriving tardy to class, disruptive behavior, sleeping in class, being off-task, lacking proper materials, etc. will influence participation grade.  Extra credit can also be earned on Participation grade for especially excellent performance.

MATERIALS   Students must bring notebook, pen or pencil, eraser, and paper every day.  (Teacher will advise when you need to bring textbook.)  On test days students must bring pencil for scantron portion of test.

CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR  Student is expected to follow the behavior code in student handbook.  Food and drink are forbidden; well, you may have water.  Please do not chew gum as well.  Students must be in classroom and seated, ready to begin work when bell rings.  Teacher will deduct points from a tardy student's participation grade.  Hide your cell phones and I-Pods; teacher has the right to confiscate them.
